A Lager Like No Other

We drank our first homebrewed Lager this weekend and it is like no other lager I've ever tasted. It's clean and refreshing but more yeasty than I expected. I think it has an almost floral nose that reminds me of a Belgiam wheat like Hoegarden. It came out hazier than i had hoped; possibley becuase we didn't use Irish Moss on this one, but is no less delicious or enjoyable than i had hoped.

Afternoon Amarillo Ale

We brewed 10 gallons of pale ale today. We used some Caramunich and a little bit of Carafoam malt in addition to the base pale malt. We hopped it pretty well with Amarillo hops for aroma and flavor. As an experiment, we got 2 different kinds of yeast one European and the other American. We'll let you know how they turn out.

The highlight of the day had to be all the improvements to our equipment. I picked up a drill to use with our Maltmill, which I highly recomend. We milled 25lbs of grain in about 10mins, KICK ASS! We also got a wort Chiller, which worked very well.

The Indian King Shall Rise Again

I'm going to have to disagree with hadyrmom's comment about Celebration of the Suds Beer Festival:
"THE BEER THERE SUCKED BALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
While there was quite a bit of very "mainstream", low flavor low alchohol beer, there were a bunch I liked a lot. I was impressed with Magif Hat's HIPA (I've been on an IPA kick recently) becuase I m usualy not a big fan of their brews. I also liked Flying Dog's offerings and Stone's. Atlantic City local Tun Tavern also impressed.

Hadyrmom is most definetly correct about there being a strong need for Indian King Brews. The market is ripe for flavorfull, complex, homebrew style beers that combine time tested techniques with new innovations and flavors.

Out of Rotation

Well, the truth of the matter is that I knew something like this would happen... Ari is messing up the cypher... You would think that some one who blows glass and brews beer would know all about the cypher but I guess I was wrong, instead of brewing this weekend Ari had to go to a flame-workers convention to learn more about blowing glass, and since that was the case Howie and I went to the Celebration of teh suds which is stated below this posting. What I want to do is talk about the suds for a second...

THE BEER THERE SUCKED BALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean they had some good ones but with over 120 beers I would think that there would be some damn good ones...

Well, the only thing this actually does is confirm the fact that the world needs the Indian King Brew!!!!! And since the world needs it, we will be the ones to being it to the world... Speak to you soon and don't forget to come back every day and check us out!!!

Celebration of the Suds

Celebration of the Suds:
Atlantic City Beer Festival, March 18-19 '06

This is going to be awesome; they will be having over 100 beers to taste! My current favorite breweries, Dog Fish Head and Rogue, will be in attendance with some delicious brews I'm sure. Myself and the rest of the brewcrew, minus the A train, who will be at the flameworkers convention in Salem NJ, will be there on Saturday. See you (through thick-ass beer goggles) there!

Indian King Brewery

Howdy All, it is a pleasure to be able to share our experience with 4 billion people in this world who may be able to find this site. The others will hopefully catch up in time. We been makin whole lots of beer, starting with the O Face outmeal stout(consistency resembling Uncle oatmeal himself, A dark brown ale with a coriander kick. George's Fault, A belgain, little darker than Wit beer, tettnang hops, Orange blossom honey, orange peel and other tasty spices is to be unveiled this first day of spring, unless we skip spring this year, but it will be tasty in the summertime too. In the colder months we took the opportunity to brew a lager where it aged in my garage for over a month. While these beers were making love with the yeast we took the opportunity to bust out some tasty pale ales, IPA, ESB, and APA(IndianPale, Extra special Bitter, American Pale) which are all drunk. So we decided we needed to up the anty a little bit because it's tough to live on 8 beers a week.
The Indian King Tavern opened just over 250 years ago as a place for the men for the Union to gather themselves during the revolutionary war. What better way to simmer down than a peacepipe and a homebrew. Whether they were smokin peace pipes or not, I'm sure they had great beer. You can still visit the tavern as a cultural historic site in Haddonfield, NJ where they have and interesting tour, but unfortunatly no beer.(Haddonfield went Dry and put the brewers out of work. This was long before prohibition which was sure to put em under eventually)
Check out the site

Many homebrewers and larger scale brewers have been exceptionally helpful to us and hopefully we can push some of the knowledge, and maybe eventually a little beer, further along.

Do you have your "fast"?

This whole process seems to be powered by some extreme force that none of us can explain nor can we simply put a finger on the motivating factor that’s driving us... We have managed to grow from a single person brewing beer from Extract on his stove in the kitchen to a group of five young adults with aspirations of opening up our very own microbrewery.

I'm sure that everyone has seen the Volkswagen commercials about the "fast" that sits in the back seat and tells the man behind the wheel to keep the windows down... Well I think we have our own version of the "fast" its called blind faith and ambitious intentions. Nothing like a would be group of entrepreneurs trying to jump right in to making 20 gallons of beer at a time with no method of distribution and no actual licensing to do so...

All I can say is this is fucking awesome and I don't want to stop ever!!

Creating brewpots out of kegs

Noon on a most beautiful Monday:
hadyrmom: i just got 2 empty kegs for 20 bucks
ExperResu: sweet!
hadyrmom: now we just have to cut the tops off
ExperResu: truf
hadyrmom: im going to home depot then coming over to cut some tops off of kegs
ExperResu: yearp

We used a Sawzall, which isn't the optimal tool, but it did the trick.

Ten Gallons of Wit for the Witty

Today we brewed ten gallons of beer... You hear that Yards ten gallons, you better watch the hell out because we're coming for you and every one like you. We brewed a belgian wit (white) which was basically pilsner malt and some wheat flakes. Nothing special about the ingredients, everything special about the brew sut-up. We just spent a lot of money for teh ability to brew 30 gallons at a time. Dont worry pictures will be posted soon.

Till then leave some G-D Damn Comments!!!!
